So PUMPED to be showing this wedding, why? It’s going to be hard to find a sweeter couple than these guys! Colleen had first heard about me through Amanda & Rob’s wedding’s that I shot last year. Our first meeting was definitely memorable as Colleen said to me “Bass there are only three important things about our wedding! 1st Im marrying my best friend, 2nd that were celebrating with our family and closest friends and 3rd that we have amazing photos to remember it all! MUSIC TO MY EARS!! *wink*
Their story started in Waterloo. Mikey (as Colleen calls him) and Colleen met at a pub one night when they were both out with friends. She was out with my rugby girls and he was out with his rugby boys, can you say Fate was calling! They were both at the bar ordering Keiths (both their favourite beer); at the time the Ottawa Senators were in the playoffs and being the die hard Leafs fans they are they struck up a conversation about how much they hate the Sens as there was a TV Behind the bar playing the playoff highlights. Turns out during the conversation they realized that her girls and his boys were actually mutual friends through their respective rugby clubs.
At the end of the night Mikey asked Colleen for her phone number, OF COURSE HE DID!! Being the smarty pants that she is she asked him “why she should give him her phone number?” He replied “because I think there is something special about you” and the rest is history……..
As I mentioned before they are HUGE Leafs fans! Since the first year they have been dating they have taken off to Boston each year for a few days to sit front row at a Leafs vs. Bruins game (behind the Leafs bench of course!) Some of their favourite memories are from these trips. They headed to Boston in March 2010 for their 3rd time….. Where they spent a night out on the town at their favourite martini bar. When they got back to their hotel Mikey got down on one knee and popped the question. Needless to say it was the best Boston trip yet!! *wink* They are planning to make a return trip on their honeymoon later this summer 🙂 That’s them in a nutshell; two rugby players finding love over beer and hockey game! *wink*
I’ll be the first to say that this year so far has been pretty unpredictable with the weather! Once again they (I always wonder who is it that calls themselves “They”) were calling for thundershowers and on the drive to the While Oaks Resort to meet-up with the ladies Gabe looks at me and says “Dad I dont thing were going to get lucky this time with the weather” , I agreed with him. However long story short the weather turned out amazing and Colleen & “Mikey” had their outdoor Lake-front wedding!! Big ups to the Edgewater Manor for the amazing food and hospitality!
