Today’s blog is a little different. We’ve all experienced what it is like to have lost someone important to us. We look back on their lives and think about the impact they made on us…on others. Losing Ainsley Cooper, my niece, at just 109 days old was no different. It is hard to grasp that a tiny baby could do so much for so many people, but she did. Every breath, every beat of her heart and every moment she was with us taught us something. Even since her passing, she has managed to continue to impact us everyday. Ainsley taught us to love, give and most importantly, she taught us to LIVE.
She beat all the odds, fought everyday and made it through many milestones – days & moments that ordinary people often take for granted. But not Ainsley. She gave everything she had, everyday, and continues to do so through her parents. Cathy & Tyler have started a Charity called “From Ainsley”. Because Ainsley spent a significant part of her life at Sick Kids, and she gave 100% of herself to her family everyday, they’ve decided to continue her legacy by helping out the children at Sick Kids. Their goal is to raise 365 toys – one toy representing each day of the year. Just as Ainsley was a gift to us all and gave us a true sense of joy for 109 days, these toys will do the same everyday for children who need them.
I wanted to do something to help out. Normally, it is impossible to get a family photo done by me unless you’ve been a former couple of mine or you’ve won a contest. This time it is a little different! On October 26th, 2013, we will be opening the afternoon up for family photos for ANYONE. Is there a catch? YES *lol* The catch is, if you want a family photo, the cost is a toy to donate to “From Ainsley”.
We will be holding the shoot at my FAVOURITE coffee place – “Monigram Coffee Roasters”. For those of you who don’t know, I’ve been known to be called a “coffee snob” *lol*. This place is amazing! The atmosphere, the treats and MOST importantly, the coffee are absolutely incredible. Don’t be surprised if you venture over there one evening and you find me working away while sipping some java! The best part of this location, besides the coffee, is that it is on “Ainslie St.” in Cambridge…is that an amazing coincidence, or what?
Here are the details:
1. The family photo drop-in session is on October 26, 2013 from 1pm-4pm. It is on a first come, first serve basis.
2. The photo session will take place at Monigram Coffee Roasters (16 Ainslie St. S., Suite C, Cambridge ON N1R3K1)
3. One photo per toy. If you would like more than one photo, you just need to bring another toy
4. All toys will go directly to “From Ainsley” to support patients of The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, ON.
5. Please visit http://fromainsley.com/donate.htm to see a guideline for the types of toys that can/can’t be donated.
