What better way to kick off the season than with a destination wedding in Mexico!? Lori & I feel so blessed to have been part of such an amazing week with Jennifer, Kevin & their awesome family. We know how it may seem..”Tough gig guys, going on vacation for a week!?” And while yes, it was super relaxing and the weather was kind, we spent hours researching, testing our lighting and making sure that everything went perfectly for their week away and wedding day. At the end of the day, a destination wedding doesn’t start & end on the actually wedding day – the journey starts the moment we arrive at the airport. And it continues through scoping out different photo locations during different times of the day, it goes into the evening as we talked and brainstormed different ways to grab unique/artistic images, etc. Sure, we may have had a mojito in our hands while doing it, but that just got our creative juices flowing *lol*
Jennifer & Kevin’s rooftop ceremony was literally breathtaking. The ocean views, the breeze, the warmth of the sun…they truly could not have picked a better location to say their ‘I do’s’. One of the challenges of a beach ceremony is that onlookers in their speedos or photobombers are everywhere. Well meaning, curious people can be hard to eliminate. With the rooftop ceremony, there were no random spectators, just the people that Jen & Kevin invited to celebrate in their wedding day.
That then brings us to the outdoor reception. With candles and stringed lights illuminating the tables and dancefloor, everyone had an amazing time dancing the night away to some amazing tunes (my personal favourite being ‘The Thong Song’ by Sisqo..thanks for the request, Jeff *lol*), and took it back old school with some glow stick jump rope. It was truly a day to remember. Couple that with endless sun, sand and great company, we came home two very happy photographers.
We were invited to fly in a plane with Allan, visit Kentucky with Phil & Lynn, hang out with PJ & Jeff at the pride parade and Lori is already planning her manicure with Janice. To say we had a wonderful time would be an understatement.
We have to give it up to Negar for an absolutely incredible job on all the ladies’ hair!! She did an iamazing job and we know that whenever we work with her we’re in for some well styled locks.
Thank you to everyone for welcoming us like family. We often talk about the pool chats we had, drinks we shared and memories made. We could not have asked for a more kind and fun group to go with. Jennifer & Kevin, you guys are not just our first couple of 2017, you are our friends. Thank you for having us and for your friendship, we love you guys!!
